The hard facts
Start with category, country or region, alcohol by volume and bottle size. An age statement in a vatting or blend refers to the youngest whisky.
NAS simply means no age is stated on the label. It says nothing by itself about quality.
- Age names the youngest whisky
- ABV signals intensity
- Cask and batch details add context
Reading process terms
Single cask, cask strength, non-chill filtered and natural colour describe choices, but do not automatically make a whisky better.
Treat cask and finish details as expectations, not guarantees. Compare them with what you genuinely nose and taste.
Transparency
Sources, image makers, licences and methodology are brought together here. Wherever possible, Whisk(e)y Compare links bottle data and distillery status to producers, trade bodies and other primary sources. Scores describe flavour intensity, not quality.
